Devices with internal IPs aren't being port forwarded when trying to communicate with the public port-forwarded host/IP. External traffic work wells and does get port-forwarded OK. WebOct 20, 2024 · Step 4: Pay attention to the WAN IP address in the status page. If there are still problems, please check the WAN IP of the router. Verify the router is getting a public IP address. If it is a private IP address, which means it's not enough to only open the port on the TP-Link, you have to do the same setting on the modem router as well.

Also this might be where the "rule already exists" error is coming from, UPnP is making the rules for you, you just can't see them.
